USL Youth Rules
CLOCK: Games start on the hour and include two 20-minute running halves and a 5-minute half time. The clock will not stop for any reason, no exceptions.
TIME OUTS: One 1-minute time out is allowed to each team per half. The game clock will not be stopped. Any timeout called by a winning team will automatically expire with 2 minutes remaining in the half or game, and no timeout can be called thereafter. Official time outs will not stop the clock. The clock will not stop for any reason.
OVERTIME
Games ending in a tie will continue with two 3-minute sudden-victory periods until a winner is declared (officials will keep the clock). There are no time outs during sudden victory overtime. If no winner is determined by the two sudden victory overtimes, then a coin toss will determine the winner.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT:
The Warrior Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Jamboree will be a *modified double elimination format. All youth teams will be guaranteed a minimum of four games. Consolation games will be automatically scheduled for teams reaching two losses without having played four games.
*In the event the Championship game ends with both teams having only one loss, the winner of the Championship game shall be deemed the Jamboree Champion. No rematch will be played. We’ve tried it both ways and believe that the team fighting its way back through the loser’s bracket is at a sufficient disadvantage and, if they win, is deserving of the Championship.
ROSTERS:
- Only teams that played together during the regular season will be allowed to enter the Warrior Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Jamboree.
Each team is allowed 2 guest players.
Guest players must be within the age limits of the grade level of the team/division in which they are a registered. Players who played in the Gold division during the regular season are not allowed to guest play on a Silver team. Guest players (and all Jamboree participants) are only allowed to play on one team during the tournament. A guest player, whose regular season team is also registered for the Jamboree, must have written permission from their regular season coach to be a guest player.
All teams are required to submit the roster used during the spring season without modification, except noting the guest players. For guest players, you are required to note their date of birth, regular season team (if any), Name, and J You are required to submit your full regular season roster even though you know certain players will not attend. A Rules Committee has been formed who will monitor compliance with this and other Warrior Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Jamboree rules. Any team in violation of this rule may be penalized by the Warrior Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Jamboree Rules Committee, Field Monitors and/or Officials which may include forfeiture or expulsion. For any questions, please contact Seaver Baruch at Seaver@lacrosseoutreach.orgThis e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
All teams entered may be spot checked by Warrior Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Jamboree Field Monitors and/or officials for compliance.
ROSTER CHECKS: WRMLJ staff will be conducting random spot roster checks throughout the Jamboree. Coaches cannot request roster checks.
RULES OF PLAY:
Jamboree rules of play will follow the US Lacrosse rules for each level of play, except where aforementioned Jamboree “local” rules are in place.
Jamboree card rule: Suspend 1 game for a red card and one half for two yellow cards.
4th Grade Girls Rule Checking: There is NO checking at level C (at all). The three seconds closely guarded rule is enforced to allow for turnovers resulting from good defense in lieu of checking. See page 4 of the USL Youth Rules (page 81 from the rule book) for the specific language of this rule. Officials give a verbal count for this call.
In general, if a defender plays good defense with both hands on her stick and demonstrates that she could have made a legal check for 3 consecutive seconds, then a turnover is awarded.
Attack players must run, pass or cradle away from the defense before the audible 3 second count completes to avoid this turnover call
ALL TEAMS:
FAN, PARENT AND COACH CONDUCT:
To assure a positive culture for the sport of lacrosse all players, parents and coaches should have been given copies of the US Lacrosse Code of Conduct during the regular season. Additionally, we will follow the U.S. Lacrosse Sportsmanship Card (formerly Purple Card) procedures and termination criteria that will apply to all couches, spectators and players. The card is a warning for poor conduct that could lead to ejection or termination of the game upon a second offense. Ejection or termination, under some circumstances, can occur prior to the issuance of a card. Head coaches are now by rule responsible for the actions and behavior of fans, assistant coaches and bench personnel. The head coach will be given a yellow or red card for problems involving anyone related to the team not on the field. Coaches, please tell your parents all fans must be on the opposite side of the field from the players prior to the start of the game by the Official. The official or a Warrior Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Jamboree Field Monitor may stop the game at any time to enforce this rule. A team whose fans or coaches do not cooperate with this rule or otherwise act inappropriately will forfeit the game at the discretion of the Official or 17th Annual Warrior Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Jamboree Field Monitor. Officials and/or Field Monitors will stop play if a fan or coach is being abusive or acting contrary to the spirit of good sportsmanship and will call both coaches together to resolve the matter. If the problem persists the official and/or Field Monitor may eject any coaches or fans and may declare the game over. The team with the offending individual(s) will forfeit the game and its opponent will be declared the winner. Any violent contact from a fan or coach will result in immediate termination. Once the decision has been made to terminate a game there will be no opportunity for appeal and the offender(s) will be asked to immediately leave the premises. Game & field conduct is the responsibility of BOTH head coaches. All parents must stay on opposite side of player area. Max of 3 coaches in the coaching area during the game. WEATHER CONTINGENCY PLANS: If games are delayed due to weather, once play is resumed, we will play accelerated games with 12-minute halves and two minute half times until caught up with the regular tournament schedule. www.lacrosseoutreach.org will be updated regularly (at least every two hours) with delay announcements and game results.
