2011 Boys Warrior Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Jamboree Rules
Dowload the Rules as PDF
CLOCK: Games start on the hour and include two 20-minute running halves and a 5-minute half time. Penalties will be assessed at 20 and 40 seconds for technical and personal fouls, respectively. Teams not ready to face off on the hour, and at the start of the second half, will be assessed a 40-second delay of game penalty. Penalty clocks will stop during timeouts. Offensive players must keep the ball in the "box" during last 2 minutes of play. TIME OUTS: One 1-minute time out is allowed to each team per half. The game clock will not be stopped. Any timeout called by a winning team will automatically expire with 2 minutes remaining in the half or game. A team in a man down situation may not call a time out in the last 2 minutes of either half. Official time outs will not stop the clock. The clock will not stop for any reason. Games ending in a tie will continue with two 4-minute sudden death periods until a winner is declared (officials will keep the clock). If no winner is determined by sudden death overtime, a “Braveheart” contest will determine the winner. There are no time outs during sudden death overtime.
Braveheart shall be structured as follows: Each team will select two players. One, for safety reasons, must wear full goalie equipment (including goalie stick), and he is the only player allowed in the crease. No long poles. There is no offside penalty in Braveheart and the goalie is free to play the entire field. Penalties are not served, but result in a change of possession. There are no substitutions except for injury. If an injured player has to leave the field, then both teams have the right to substitute a player so that each team has one fresh player. Braveheart will be played out until one team scores and is therefore declared the winner.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT:
The Warrior Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Jamboree will be a modified double elimination format. All youth teams will be guaranteed a minimum of four games. Consolation games will be automatically scheduled for teams reaching two losses without having played four games.
In the event the championship game ends with both teams having only one loss, the winner of the Championship game shall be deemed the Jamboree Champion. No rematch will be played. We’ve tried it both ways and believe that the team fighting its way back through the loser’s bracket is at a sufficient disadvantage and, if they win, is deserving of the Championship.
Only teams that played together during the regular season will be allowed to enter the Warrior Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Jamboree. All teams are to submit the roster used during the spring season without modification. You are required to submit your full regular season roster even though you know certain players will not attend. A Rules Committee has been formed who will monitor compliance with this and other Warrior Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Jamboree rules. Any team in violation of this rule may be penalized by the Warrior Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Jamboree Rules Committee, Field Monitors and/or Officials which may include forfeiture or expulsion. For any questions, please contact Seaver Baruch at Seaver@lacrosseoutreach.orgThis e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . All teams entered may be spot checked by Warrior Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Jamboree Field Monitors and/or officials for compliance.
ROSTER CHECKS:
WRMLJ staff and officials will be conducting spot roster checks throughout the Jamboree. Coaches cannot request roster checks during games. Any concerns of other teams cheating on their rosters should be brought to the attention of the head referee for the respective grade level of competition. Any resultant roster checks will be at the sole discretion of the WRMLJ staff and/or officials.
SEEDING, BRACKETING AND NON-CYLA TEAMS: CYLA teams must play in the division/ bracket in which they have been playing during the regular season. In rare situations where winless teams desire to play down, exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis, and will likely coincide with exceptions granted by the CYLA for purposes of the CYLA State Championship. All age-combined teams must play at the higher grade level of the combination. Teams can elect to play up a grade but not down. If they elected to play up during the regular season they have to play up for the Warrior Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Jamboree. All non-CYLA Teams will be placed in the appropriate division based upon an analysis of their season record at the sole discretion of the Warrior Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Jamboree. Seeding for the Warrior Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Jamboree will be based largely upon the results of the CYLA State Championship Tournament. Selective teams formed by tryouts of the best players from a club or area which are playing in separate competitive circumstances do not constitute “regular-season” teams according to Warrior Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Jamboree definition and are not therefore allowed to enter the tournament.
The Double Elimination format allows teams one loss prior to reaching the finals. There will only be one final game. If an undefeated team loses in the final game, their tournament ends there - no consolation game (no double elimination championship game) for that team.
GRADE LEVEL RULES: CYLA regular season rules will apply to all teams at Warrior Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Jamboree as follows:
- Sportsmanship is paramount during all Lacrosse play.
- Head Safety Rule: ANY hit (legal or illegal) that makes contact above the shoulders will be assessed from a 1 to 3 minute (40, 80, or 120 seconds at the Jamboree) non releasable penalty (NEW for 2011)
- A modified competition rule (MCR) will be in effect when any team gains a five-goal lead. After the score that makes the five (or more) point difference, the losing team will be given possession of the ball at the mid-field line in lieu of a face-off, if desired, by the coach or the team administer. NOTE: This MCR does not eliminate the halftime face-offs for boys which will occur regardless of point differential. This rule does not apply for 6th, 7th and 8th grade RED division games.

Only club teams formed by high school boosters can field a team from boys from their program on a voluntary basis. Teams can enter using the name of their mascot, but not high school, as the tournament is outside the sanctioned season. CHSAA Coaching Rules: As per the Associate Commissioner of CHSAA, The Sunday CHSAA rule does not apply for the Jamboree or summer break. High school teams will play in a double elimination format with consolation games to guarantee all teams a minimum of four games.
In the event the championship game ends with both teams having only one loss, the winner of the Championship game shall be deemed the Jamboree Champion. No rematch will be played (no double elimination championship). We’ve tried it both ways and believe that the team fighting its way back through the loser’s bracket is at a sufficient disadvantage and, if they win, is deserving of the Championship.
ALL TEAMS: FAN, PARENT AND COACH CONDUCT: To assure a positive culture for the sport of lacrosse all players, parents and coaches should have been given copies of the US Lacrosse Code of Conduct during the regular season. Additionally, we will follow the U.S. Lacrosse Sportsmanship Card (formerly Purple Card) procedures and termination criteria that will apply to all couches, spectators and players. The card is a warning for poor conduct that could lead to ejection or termination of the game upon a second offense. Ejection or termination, under some circumstances, can occur prior to the issuance of a card. Coaches, please tell your parents all fans must be on the opposite side of the field from the players prior to the start of the game by the Official. The official or a Warrior Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Jamboree Field Monitor may stop the game at any time to enforce this rule. A team whose fans or coaches do not cooperate with this rule or otherwise act inappropriately will forfeit the game at the discretion of the Official or 17th Annual Warrior Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Jamboree Field Monitor. Officials and/or Field Monitors will stop play if a fan or coach is being abusive or acting contrary to the spirit of good sportsmanship and will call both coaches together to resolve the matter. If the problem persists the official and/or Field Monitor may eject any coaches or fans and may declare the game over. The team with the offending individual(s) will forfeit the game and its opponent will be declared the winner. Any violent contact from a fan or coach will result in immediate termination. Once the decision has been made to terminate a game there will be no opportunity for appeal and the offender(s) will be asked to immediately leave the premises.
